Catapult Film Fund

Catapult Film Fund provides nonfiction filmmakers with funding and mentorship at an early stage when such support is often hard to find. Their signature Development Grant program supports filmmakers as they create materials which help unlock critical production funding. Catapult continues to provide support throughout each project’s lifecycle, including immersive mentorship through its Rough Cut Retreat in partnership with the True/False Film Fest. In 2024, Catapult distributed over $500,000 to documentary filmmakers across its programs.

Early-stage funding is, in some ways, the most important money that a filmmaker can have because it can mean the difference between making and not making a film. We are so impressed by the care and consideration that Catapult brings to its selection of films, and by the way they support and nurture a film until it makes its way out into the world. – Jonathan Logan

Funding from the Jonathan Logan Family Foundation supports the Development Grant program, which has an impressive track record of launching powerful storytelling. Impactful films supported by Catapult include A Thousand Cuts by Ramona S. Diaz, American Factory by Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert, Crip Camp by Jim LeBrecht and Nicole Newnham and Welcome to Chechnya by David France, to name just a few.
