Formerly Indian Country Today, ICT is a leading nonprofit news organization whose mission is to serve Indigenous communities and cover Indigenous people and issues. Indigenous journalists make up less than 1% of professional reporters in the United States. ICT is transforming the future of nonprofit newsrooms by hiring Indigenous journalists and establishing regional news bureaus across nine key geographic areas with high concentrations of Indigenous populations. ICT reaches audiences through a digital mobile platform and a weekday television program distributed via public broadcasting channels.
The Jonathan Logan Family Foundation supports a dedicated ICT reporter who covers politics and elections. Political reporter Pauly Denetclaw, DinĂ©, explores what is at stake for Indigenous communities in elections and examines politics and policy through an Indigenous lens. Pauly manages ICT’s Indigenous Candidate Database, tracking how many Indigenous candidates are running for office in each state.
