Logan Nonfiction Program

Founded in 2015, the Logan Nonfiction Program directly supports nonfiction writers, documentary filmmakers, photojournalists and multimedia creators so they can tell the stories that matter. The program welcomes between 10 and 20 fellows every spring and fall at the Carey Institute for Global Good’s historic 100-acre campus in upstate New York. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the program adapted by going virtual.

The Logan Nonfiction Program believes that an informed, educated and engaged citizenry is essential to the functioning of a democratic society. We rely on journalists to filter misinformation, ensure transparency and provide accurate and unbiased content. Yet journalists are required to work with fewer resources, tighter deadlines and more pressure than ever before. Support from the Jonathan Logan Family Foundation enables the Logan Nonfiction Program to fill the growing gap in the media landscape between the resources a news outlet, book publisher or film distributor can devote to long-form narratives, and the resources a journalist, author or documentary filmmaker needs. Click here to explore the incredible works of nonfiction produced by the program’s fellows so far.

The cross-disciplinary residency is a kind of oasis for nonfiction writers, investigative reporters, photojournalists, documentary filmmakers and multimedia journalists.
