Temple University

Philadelphia-based Temple University announced the creation of the Jonathan Logan Family Foundation Center for Urban Investigative Reporting in July 2021. The Logan Center is housed at the Klein College of Media and Communication under the leadership of Dean David Boardman, an award-winning journalist and a leader in the field. Students of the Logan Center will work in partnership with local journalism organizations in order to serve the North Philadelphia community and produce meaningful, solutions-oriented journalism. JLFF is proud to support these efforts to produce a diverse new generation of journalists and make the field of investigative reporting more equitable and inclusive.

Through this generous grant, our students will not only graduate with impressive journalism skills, they will be producing important work while they learn – David Boardman, Dean of Klein College of Media and Communication

With support from JLFF, Temple University hired two experienced journalists to teach undergraduate students the skills they need to pursue a career in journalism. Multimedia journalist and experienced educator Yvonne Latty will be the Director of the Logan Center. Miami HeraldĀ investigative reporter Julie K. Brown will serve as a Professional-in-Residence for one year to help launch the Center’s activities.
